Little Barrie - Free Salute
This is one of those songs that gets lost in the massive quagmire of music that is continually turned out, played for a while and then pretty much forgotten about. Some things are just too good to forget about.
Little Barrie caught my attention in 2004 with their album This is Little Barrie. The song featured here - Free Salute is my favourite from that album but there are plenty of other great tracks. The band’s sound was a blend of soul, funk, rock and roll and garage band although I think it has fined out a little since this recording. This song is perfect song to make dinner too. Little Barrie have been around for about 15 years. They are a 3 piece band based in London. Their first album, We are Little Barrie was released in 2005. They haven’t sat on their fingers either having since released another 3 albums, the latest being Shadows in May of this year. Not wanting to rest on their laurels, they have changed up their sound to a clean less garagey style for better or worse. Their current line up consists of Barrie Cadogan - guitarist and vocalist, Lewis Wharton - bassist and Virgil Howe - drums. The drummer featured in the video above is Wayne Fulwood.
