How could I not include a track has been called:
“unquestionably the finest indie dance record ever… something akin to “Sympathy fo
r the Devil” for the E generation” by Muzik magazine.
Released in February 1990, Loaded by Primal Scream is a hybrid of hip-hop and dance features an audio of Peter Fonda taken from the movie The Wild Angels.
In addition to Peter’s contribution at the beginning, the song has samples and bits from the following :
- The Emotions - I don’t want to lose your love
- A drum loop from an Italian bootleg remix of Edie Brickell’s What I am
- Bobby Gillespie (the only original member of Primal Scream in their 33 year history) singing a line from Robert Johnsons Terraplane Blues
- Andie McDowell from Sex Lies and Videotape (ahh James Spader as young babe!) saying “That’s beautiful….That’s really beautiful
- Primal Screams own I’m losing more than I’ll ever have
It’s from the album ‘Screamadilica’ which is loads of fun too if you are so inclined.
We won’t be far wrong when we say that this song was played at the time, to many who had plenty of chemically induced love going on on the dance floor at the time.
We could go on about it for ages but let’s just play it! It’s very move inducing and good for kitchen dancing too!
