The nose?
Beautiful fresh fruit aromas jump out of the glass. I’m smelling a red fruit salad of cherries, plums and mulberries. There’s a nice element of gentle spice there too. Smells gorgeous!
The palate?
This organic merlot is fleshy and juicy with good astringency. It has plenty of acid but it’s all in balance.
Classic merlot characters of mulberries and some earthy chocolate coming through too.
Lovely soft tannins and nice length. I really like this wine!
What food will it go with?
I can see this wine cutting beautifully through a crispy spiced pork belly.
Will it age?
This wine won’t get much better than it is now. I wouldn’t be keeping it much longer than 12 months. Drink by end 2015.

Freehand Wines are a small winery in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. They use Biodynamic practices in the vineyard and are passionate about keeping chemicals out of the vineyard and the wine. And they love compost!

This is SO helpful, thank you. I haven’t a clue when it comes to wine and the preservatives seem to set me off. I gave up drinking wine a few years ago because of it.
