Gemstone 2014 Chardonnay – South Australia
Clean Wine Credentials?
Tasted January 2015
RRP around $15.00 bottle shop price
I’m getting pear, lemon and grapefruit coming through with a touch of green melon
There’s a freshness and purity in the organic/biodynamic wines I am tasting and this wine is no exception. This chardonnay has lovely full fruit flavours on the palate. It’s made for drinking and not too much thinking. It’s what Mr FYNG would call ‘a fun drop!’.
10% of the wine was fermented in oak barrels which gives the wine some nice body and palate weight.
Gemtree Wines say “We strive to make wines that put enjoyment before understanding”. Hallelujah and take that! anyone who dares to criticise this wine for being too simple!
Garlic prawns in a lemony creamy sauce. But really, just about anything!
Will it age?
This wine wasn’t made to age and won’t get much better than it is now. Just drink it!
