There are some great products out there and I want to give you the heads up on some of my favourites. Only products that I have personally tested are here, because they are natural and safe, and just as importantly, they actually work really well too. And don’t forget, when it comes to individual products, we need to find ones that work for each of us as individuals.
Unfortunately not all of you will be able to get to these places but here are some of the places I frequent.
276 Waverley Road East Malvern. Is our local organic shop and we consider ourselves very lucky for that fact. Chris and Caroline have built up a wonderful business that caters for most of your food and personal care needs with an emphasis on organics, biodynamics and sustainability. The Vegetable and Fruit section are really good and competitively priced too. They certainly know their suppliers and will often have super specials on certain high season lines. The fridge/freezer range is great and includes a large range of organic dairy, frozen fruits and vegies and a range of bio-dynamic meats. You can order just about any cut of meat that is available for delivery a couple of days later. They also carry a range of artisan breads and gluten free products.
Terra Madre – 103 High Street Northcote
This shop is not my local but it is amazing and worth the trip if you don’t live in the Northcote area. What they don’t stock in the way of organic food, personal care and lifestyle products probably isn’t made. Their prices are great too which makes it worth a cut lunch trek.
Beautiful perfumes made with only natural ingredients and using 100% natural plant essences. Currently 11 different fragrances available but perfumer Liz Cook is always working on new creations. Currently they only ship smaller sizes overseas due to dangerous goods legislation – 5 ml perfumes, perfume samples, candles and body cream.
